I just spent time on www.ItsJustNotFair.org Web Site.  And I am concerned about how the unfair point of sale tax is hurting South Carolina’s fragile economy. 

The point of sale tax a tax allows local governments to dramatically increase property taxes on homes, land and businesses when they are sold.  For example, if you buy a home, you could pay higher property taxes than an identical home in your neighborhood.  

This flawed law is keeping companies from opening new business and that means jobs are going to other states.  In this economy the last thing we need are taxes that eliminate new jobs.

What’s worse is local governments can spend the point of sale tax any way they want---with no restrictions.  That’s just plain wrong!

But all that can change, by letting the politicians in Columbia know we don’t support this unfair tax.  You can take action on the campaign web site, and connect with others to share your story about this flawed law.  That’s why I did my part and contacted my elected officials.
